I am an allotmenteer, I enjoy cooking and preserving, I’m into Derbyshire, the environment and I write the odd bit of poetry. Still a Mother, but looking forward to Cronedom, I find my mind is increasingly elsewhere, though I keep my feet firmly on the ground.  I wear a black hat in winter, and yes, I do have  a cat and a broom.

    1. Lisa, you can use the leaves like you would chard, and in fact Ruby Chard is very similar.
      Cut the ribs off, then cut the leaves into ribbons. Steam the ribs for 5 mins first as they take longer to cook than the leaves. Then add the leaves and steam for another 5 minutes. Dress with a squeeze of lemon juice and a drizzle of olive oil.
      I’d love to try your beetroot humus. Will you send me the recipe?
